I also loved the book Animal, Vegetable Miracle. It has sent me in the same direction, albeit far more slowly. I am dragging my husband along, which has slowed me down a bit, but he's getting onboard! The Packards wonderful veggies and meats have certainly helped to convince him!

Wow, Ralph and Kathy are already my heroes! What a great project you have going here. I can't wait to follow along. I want to eat more seasonally myself (after reading some of the same books) and this will be a great inspiration.

Welcome to the world of obsessive locatarianism inspired by Kingsolver! Check out the cool community of folks endeavoring to eat more locally with the Dark Days Challenge at Urban Hennery: http://urbanhennery.com/2008-dark-days-challenge/. Good luck to you, I think you'll find there's more local food available than you first imagined.
