I am an ambivalent cruiser. For travel in areas with a lot of water where ferry travel would be a logistical pain (Baltics, Mediterranean), I see it as a good mode of transportation and a convenient way to unpack once. And I must admit I like certain aspects — long leisurely dinners, namely.
But when we’re visiting the destinations that are the star of my trip it’s easy to forget that I myself am on a cruise, and get a little huffy about the hordes of tourists the other boats are disgorging.
The handy CruiseCal web site has provided me with a heads up about how many other cruisers we’ll be battling with to see the sights throughout the Med.
We’re on the Celebrity Galaxy. It looks like we have Rhodes to “ourselves ” — everwhere else we’ll be docking with one or two other ships.
